Currently in it’s final year – the MicroFIT (feed-in-tariff) program of Ontario allows homeowners to generate high returns by going solar. Through the program, homeowners are considered renewable energy suppliers and are paid to produce electricity into the electrical grid at a guaranteed rate for 20 years.
The MicroFIT program itself launched on October 1, 2009 and is now currently in it’s final year. The governing body of this program, the IESO will ONLY accept applications up to and including Thursday, December 28, 2017, or until the 50 MW procurement target is reached. Have you seen if your roof qualifies?
Qualified homeowners are eligible for a completely FREE system to profit share with select solar installers. (No credit checks) You provide the roof space and the solar installer will provide the solar panels. The installer benefits from MicroFIT pay and profit shares with you. Insurance and maintenance is fully covered by the installer – It’s that simple.
Oh and did we mention that after the 20 year term, the panels with 90% + efficiency are yours to keep and use to offset your hydro bills?
Homeowners that invest in solar earn up to $3,600 per year for 20 years through Ontario’s MicroFIT program. Homeowners are paid at guaranteed rate of $0.288 – $0.313 /KWH generated and sold into the grid. All of this is backed by a Government contract which you can opt out of at any time but the government can not.
After the term of this contract – homeowners are able to use the system to offset a majority (and sometimes the entirety) of their rising hydro bill.
